21 days til 22: Graduation Tips

Topic: Graduation

How to prepare for graduation.

Brief tips to prepare yourself for the BIG DAY!

1. Write down a list of your mentors, “significant” people you’ve met in your field of work, and peer. Use this list to draft an email informing them go your graduate date, major, and that you’re seeking jobs in your field. Ask them if they can provide any resources for you.

2. PUT A PAUSE ON CURRENT SITUTIONSHIPS! This is your chance to focus on YOUR next steps and not dwelling on the effect they could have on college sweeties.

3. BUDGET! Create a list of graduation fees for school, personal arrangements for graduation such as pictures, invitations, cap/gown, and outfits. This will give you an estimate of what you need especially when family asks to pitch in.

4. JOB SEARCH (or grad school search). Partner with your career fair to seek more opportunities. I HONESTLY RECOMMEND doing this a semester ahead to give yourself more time.

5. Draft thank you cards. This is a great way to seal in a potential resources or references and it’s shows your gratitude for that individual.

6. BREATHE! And stay hydrated. Between classes and deadlines. You’ll be face with a lot of stress, anxiety, and a mixture of other emotions. Just remember you will graduate and nothing will stop you.
